Saima Ahmed

Future Plans: Saima is planning to pursue a doctorate related to public health or molecular biology. She is interested in conducting research activities with her institution as well as on international level. Currently, she is working to create a proposal for HPV testing and its implementations with her institution. As a Cytotechnologist, she screens and diagnoses cancerous and pre-cancerous stages in fine-needle aspirations and biopsies. She also diagnoses GYN smears for many government-funded facilities such as Planned Parenthood. She feels that her MPH degree has open many arenas for her, most recently, she was promoted to coordinator in her department.

Future Plans: Sarah is currently completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and is due to graduate in May 2018. She is in the process of applying to residency programs in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology where she hopes to use her public health education to further the One Health initiative.

Future Plans: Emily graduated from MSU with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in the spring of 2017 and is currently working in a small animal practice. She plans to apply for public health positions in the coming year at the state and federal level.  She would like to train in the Epidemic Intelligence Service program through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or pursue a PhD in epidemiology.

Future Plans: Douglas matriculated into MSU's College of Human Medicine this fall semester of 2017.  He has been accepted into the Community Rural Health program leading him to Traverse City for his third and fourth years of medical school.  He is interested in promoting rural policy at a later point in his career.

Future Plans: Elvine plans to work in the public health field, combining her background in computer science and her public health education to help improve and promote the health care industry.  Her long term goal is to work for Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) or the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
